Update: What Happened at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre
Sometime this past week, the You Matter Card display at Mount Pleasant Community Centre was removed without permission and appears to have been taken entirely.
Over the past few months the display had been repeatedly tampered with — cards turned upside down, tacks scattered, and the holder disturbed. While it’s disappointing to see the display taken, the message behind the You Matter Card remains the same: everyone deserves quick, stigma-free access to support.
If someone disagreed with the project or found the messaging upsetting, I genuinely wish they had reached out. I’m always open to conversation, feedback, and hearing perspectives directly — that’s part of what this project is about.
For now, the YMC will continue through collaborators and partners who can host the cards in secure indoor spaces where they’re protected and easy to access. I want to thank everyone — peer navigators, community partners, volunteers, and individuals — who continue to support and share the card.
If anyone has questions, concerns, or would like to talk, you’re very welcome to contact me through the website.
The purpose remains the same: You matter. And help is always closer than it seems.
